What CSM provides:
- Housing (usually where the groups stay);
- Food (most of it);
- Training, supervision by our full-time staff;
- Stipend ($800/month).
Responsibilities - Host groups during their time in the city by:
- orienting them to the city and CSM rules and guidelines;
- framing each ministry site and activity;
- guiding them to each site and restaurant; and
- leading evening discussions/debriefs;
- other stuff as needed.
In winter and spring, groups usually come for 1 to 2 days (weekends),
during spring break and summer, they stay about 6 days. You're assigned to a group and
then help them during the whole trip. When groups aren't in, you'll help with special
projects and volunteer with our ministry partner organizations.
Application Process:
US CITIZENS: Contact us for a link to our online application:
Jobs at csm.org with your name,
telephone number and email address.
CANADIAN CITIZENS: Contact our Toronto Staff at
CAJobs at csm.org. We must speak with a reference from your church prior to you
submitting an application.
Site Visit:
When you finish your application, we'll give you info about how to schedule
a site visit so you can shadow a host for at two to three days and interview.
What is a Super Host?
If you have already served with CSM as a host, have administrative
skills and are available from January/February through August of 2008, you may qualify
as a Super Host. You would host groups a lot during the spring, but during the summer,
you would assist the city directors with administrative and logistical responsibilities,
as well as helping lead the seasonal staff. You would live on site with the rest of the
hosts, but the pay is slightly higher ($1000/month).
New York and Washington, D.C. are possible placements.
For more information about applying with CSM, please contact
Jobs at csm.org or call 949-248-8200.
If none of the above sounds good, check out some of the
other opportunities
we are aware of with other ministries (some are for summer only, but some are year around).
