| New York City Spring Staff Team 2008 |
Katie Filkins
Katie is a Navy kid who ultimately calls Fairfax,
Virginia home. She just finished the last semester of her undergraduate
career at Elon University in North Carolina. She has spent the past
three and a half years of college working towards a degree in Human
Services with a concentration in criminal justice, and can’t wait to walk
across the stage in May and be an official graduate. Throughout college,
Katie spent all of her “free time” as a tutor, mentor, basketball coach,
volunteer coordinator, and camp counselor at her local Boys and Girls Clubs
in Burlington, NC and Washington DC. Katie is specifically excited for
the opportunity to work with CSM as a city host in New York City this spring,
because she is looking forward to being in a divine position to share with
others her passions for Christ, people, and service. While engaging in what
she expects to be an absolutely incredible three months in the Big Apple,
Katie is thrilled to currently be on a journey that will prayerfully take
her to Eastern Europe this summer for the next two years with the Peace Corps.

Michael Myers
Michael was raised at the foot of the rockies in Fort
Collins, CO. Music, sports, socializing and Jesus are the things that have been
most important to him from an early age. He doesn’t ski a lot, but he does camp
and hike often. For the past five years he’s lived in Portland, OR. Mountains to
the east, ocean to the west! Four of those five years he attended Multnomah Bible
College in the center of town. His love for the city started in large part while
in Portland. May of 2007 he graduated and came on staff with CSM in February 2008. |
Emily Strickler
Emily is from Snohomish, Washington, just north
of beautiful Seattle. She graduated in May 2006 from Northwest Nazarene
University with a BA in public communication. She has been to Mexico on
mission trips several times and also to London, San Francisco, Seattle
and New York. She has enjoyed working with jr. and sr. high students as well as freshman
girls at her college. This is the second time Emily has been a City Host with
CSM in New York City One of her favorite things to do is to hang out with
her friends in downtown Seattle. She also appreciates a great Jim Carey film
and you wouldn’t be surprised to find her with an americano from Starbucks in
her hand at any given time of day. Her goal is to share her
passion and love for Jesus. "My goal is not to change the city. I just want to
love people. The ministry trips that I went on in high school ignited my passion
for inner-city ministry and my love for helping people. I want to help other kids
find that passion as well". |
