September 2007

Dear CSM,
As summer comes to a close and we trudge on into the fall, all of us at CSM want to say THANK YOU for serving the city. Thousands of lives have been changed and thousands more will as well in the very near future thanks to those groups that are getting ready to head out.

For this month's City Highlight we're heading on over to Houston! If you'd like to learn more about serving with CSM in the "Space City", please visit our website.

Now is the time to register for your late Fall 2007 trip! Hurry, though, many dates have already filled. If you haven't registered yet, please call the Home Office (949-248-8200) to find out which dates are still available.

Portrait of Exploitation: The Real Face of Prostitution
College groups that serve with CSM Chicago have the opportunity to minister with and be a part of Emmaus Ministries, a ministry specifically focused on males living in the lifestyle of and struggling with prostitution. As the students serve, they are given an opportunity to walk the streets at night where many of the men hang out. They are encouraged to have conversation with and get to know some of the men on the streets, make observations, and pray for the individuals who are struggling. It is a great opportunity for our students to have their eyes opened and to show love as they are being challenged themselves.
PRISM Magazine's feature article in it's Sept/Oct 2007 issue focuses on the very real problem of prostitution in our nation. They even suggest Emmaus Ministries as a wonderful resource for individuals looking to become free of such a lifestyle. Please note, although this is a very well-written article (from a Christian perspective), it deals with a difficult issue that may not be suitable for children or sensitive adults.
